IN CHARACTER
NAME. Scott Edward Harris Lang
AGE. 43
SPECIES. Human
ABILITIES.
Ant-Man Suit Capabilities
- Size Manipulation: Using technology developed by Hank Pym, Lang is able to reduce himself to approximately the size of an ant, though he can also grow his body to gigantic sizes, doing the latter, however, puts an enormous strain on him. He still maintains his regular-sized strength and resilience when shrinking; while in reduced scale, this translates to granting him inhuman effort and exertion capabilities. Lang cannot maintain himself giant for extended periods time, as it causes some heavy stress on his body.
- Superhuman Strength: While wearing the Ant-Man Suit in its miniature form, Lang possesses superhuman strength due to his increased density, effort, and exertion, enabling him to take out multiple opponents of normal human size while shrunk and use the physical force and momentum attained from changing size to simulate superhuman strength directly after returning to normal size. This strength also extends to legs, allowing him to jump, spring and leap across with great force, allowing him to move through the air like a bullet to strike and impact opponents and incapacitate them instantly or move halfway across a room in a single bound.
- Superhuman Durability: While wearing the Ant-Man Suit in its miniature form, Lang's increased density also affords him superhuman durability, retaining the resilience of a human of regular size. This notably allows him to withstand impacts that would easily stun or even kill a normal human, enough to him to fall from great heights and crash onto a surface with the force of a bullet, leaving a bullet hole like a crater in the surface while he remained unharmed. When he has increased his size into a giant-sized man, he naturally becomes far tougher and more durable than normal. This is due to his increased density and muscle mass, and it was enough to withstand missiles from War Machine. However, this enormous amount of durability comes at the cost of his speed and balance, making his movements somewhat clumsy as a result.
- Insect Manipulation: Lang, through the use of the EMP Communication Device within the suit's helmet and the earpieces given to him by Hank Pym, can affect the pheromones of insect-sized organisms and stimulate their olfactory nerve centers, allowing him a rudimentary form of control over ants. He can direct their actions and behavior at will to cause them to work together, such as by forming themselves into bridges or walkways, allowing themselves be used as mounts, or attacking a target, usually in swarms as a distraction for the user.
Other Abilities
- Intellect: Lang possesses above average intelligence, as he was able to figure out how to use the highly complex Ant-Man Suit and gain a Masters Degree in electrical engineering, along with bypassing the security of Hank Pym's home. He also has quite a good understanding of chemistry which allowed him to destroy Hank Pym's safe.
- Engineer: Lang was an electrical engineer, having earned a Master's Degree on the subject. His knowledge was useful when he was able to tinker a way out of the Quantum Realm using tech pieces provided by Hank Pym.
- Thief: Lang was highly trained in theft, specializing in breaking into homes and other places to steal. He is also skilled in utilizing chemistry when opening locked safes and bypassing security systems.
- Tactician: As a highly trained tactician, Lang has a keen mind for formulating elaborate plans and schemes, and is especially notable for being able to modify those plans to adapt to unforeseen circumstances at short notice - sometimes within seconds.
- Expert Acrobat: Lang is highly trained in acrobatics, parkour and free running maneuvers, leaping across steep divides and climbing difficult structures. He does not just perform these stunts in his shrunken state, but also when breaking into houses while in the process of thievery.
- Martial Artist: Hope van Dyne trained him to be a fighter. His skills, combined with the Ant-Man Suit, and shrinking powers, allowed him to defeat armed security personnel, and even beat Falcon and keep up with Black Widow in his respective duels with them, despite her being a highly skilled hand-to-hand combatant.

HISTORY

HISTORY:
Scott Lang graduated from MIT with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, but became modern day Robin Hood, stealing from criminals to give back to those they had stolen from. When he and his wife Maggie had a daughter, Cassandra, he decided to try to go straight and took a job at a security company called Vistacorp. After a few years at Vistacorp, he discovered that the company was stealing from their customers, and couldn’t help but break into their system and refund the money, effectively stealing $4 million from the company. He was convicted and while he was serving a 3 year prison sentence, his wife Maggie filed for divorce.
When he was released from Prison, Scott tried to stay on the right side of the law, but it was impossible to get and keep a job as a ex-convict. He moved in with his old cell-mate Luis, and eventually is convinced by Luis and his crew to participate in a robbery. He breaks into the house of inventor Hank Pym, and ends up getting himself hired to work as Ant-Man.
After successfully training with Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne, and um… meeting the Falcon (he’s a big fan by the way), Scott is able to stop Darren Cross from selling his version of Pyms technology to HYDRA. During this mission, he disappeared into the Quantum Realm, but was able to bring himself back by reversing his suit on time. He kind of started a thing with Hope, at least he thought it was going to be a thing, but Scott himself would admit that one of his greatest talents was screwing up… well… things.
He was recruited to fight with Captain America’s team in Berlin, and was able to effectively become Giant-Man, providing a distraction for Captain America to escape being taken into custody. Of course Scott wasn’t that lucky, and was first imprisoned on the raft, and later negotiated house arrest. While under house arrest, Scott was able to actually spend quality time with Cassie, and also started a business, X-Con Security, with Luis.
Two years later, while still under house arrest, Scott realized that he had somehow become quantum entangled with Janet Van Dyne, who was still trapped in the Quantum realm, when he began having dreams about her, and as her. Despite the conditions of his house arrest, which included not communicating with Pym or Hope, Scott left them a message, and ended up being pulled into their plans to rescue Janet. After this rescue, Scott was in the quantum realm, attempting to harvest quantum energy to help Ava Star when the snap happened. Hope, Janet and Pym all disappeared, leaving Scott with nobody to bring him back from the quantum realm.
Five years later, but only 5 hours in his perception, Scott was released from the quantum realm when a rat activates the quantum tunnel equipment by walking across it. As soon as he made sure Cassie was alive and okay, Scott sought out the Avengers with a plan: they could use the quantum realm to time travel and change the outcome of the war against Thanos. He traveled to 2012 with Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark to retrieve the Time, Mind and Space stones, which did not go great. When they had finally received all the stones, Scott fought with the Avengers against Thanos, and was ultimately reunited with Hope.
PERSONALITY
Scott has a strong personal sense of honor and right and wrong, which frequently gets him in trouble, because he will do “the wrong thing for the right reason”, like returning money that corrupt corporations have scammed from their customers, even if it’s illegal. Sometimes especially if it’s illegal. The only thing stronger than this Robin Hood complex is his love for his daughter Cassie, who is literally the best thing in his life.
Scott is the ultimate fun dad. He believes he is comedy gold, and that it’s his job to do things like create elaborate games, learn sleight of hand magic, get a drum set, or any other crazy thing he can think of to spend quality time with Cassie, no matter what.
Before becoming Ant-Man, Scott was a huge fan of the Avengers, especially Captain America, so he can sometimes still fanboy a little bit. Tony Stark used to be his least favorite Avenger, but he was able to put that aside in order to work together on the Time Heist.
